Hello world, again #1
Why I am starting a personal blog again and what you will find here.
Contents
Every few years I start a blog, write three posts and abandon it. This time I am trying a different approach: no CMS, no visual editor, just Markdown files in a Git repository.
Why a blog in the repo
Writing here means using the same tools I use all day:
- an editor I know by heart;
- Git history as the archive of drafts;
- a
git pushas the "Publish" button.
If a post does not convince me, it stays in status: draft and never leaves my laptop.
What I will write about
Three categories, nothing more:
| Category | What to expect |
|---|---|
| coding | Techniques, mistakes made, code that worked (eventually) |
| tech | Tools, hardware, opinions on how we work |
| life | Everything else: habits, reading, things learned away from the keyboard |
The name of the blog says it all: this is where the rookie mistakes I keep making end up, so at least I only make them once.
How to read it
The home page shows posts as a list of change requests: every post has a number, a status and labels. If you prefer the "runs" view, there is a switch at the top right.
